Dorward House is a residential home for older people in the town. The refurbishment and development of new facilities at Dorward House is presently underway.

Dorward House has to refurbish its facilities to meet the new National Care Standards for Care Homes.

The new facilities will provide 28 residential care places and include the construction of an extension for a further four rooms. A separate eight place unit capable of providing mainstream residential care, high dependency care or respite care according to the future demand for services is also planned.

Construction work is expected to be completed by July of next year.
